Afterschool is off to a great start with fun outdoor adventures in this delightful summer weather. We are very happy to have Sage Hansen teaching Afterschool this year. Not only because Sage knows the Kindergarteners and they know Sage, but especially because Sage is a calm confident teacher who is establishing a respectful rapport with all of our Afterschool students.
We have been providing our Afterschool students with choice. They have choice in their free play upon arrival, and then they vote on the whiteboard to choose which outside activity we will pursue each day. We will try to continue to promote student choice, even as we begin to settle on a more regular daily schedule. So far the only day we have difinitively assigned is Thursday for biking and rolling down the Stowe Rec. Path. Please bring bikes or scooters or… on Thursday morning and leave them at the bike rack between the school gym and the library (the Current). On other days our other outdoor activities include: Hiking to Sunset Rock, playing by the stream, playing with forts on the hillside, exploring our big fort in the forest, playing on the pavement with scooters, street hockey, kickball, and even enjoying a fire-side snack. Some of our indoor activities choices will eventually include: Story telling, STEM activities, Reading & Reporting, world celebration crafts, and more. We try to return from our outdoor activites by 5:00 for pick-up from 5:00-5:30. If you need to pick-up before 5:00, please be sure to contact us and make arrangements. Message procare or Text me at 802-345-5728.
Don’t forget we offer full day programming when school is closed! Our first field trip was to the VINS center where we learned about raptors and climbed the boardwalk and treetop tower. Join us for a half day program on September 27th, and our full day program on October 11th. Please register online HERE.
We have our Harvest Social on Thursday 9/26 from 4-5:30pm, we hope many families can attend! Join us for some apple cider, snacks and games in the cafeteria.
An important reminder to please message, email or call if you would like to pick up your child before 5pm so we can plan a rendez-vous. (802) 345-5728, bill@appletreelc.com
With the increase of mosquitoes carrying viruses, we invite you to send your child with bug spray to afterschool and bring long sleeved layers.
We hope you are enjoying these last warm sunny days as much as we are!
Sincerely,
Bill Minter
